The Tedious Experiment, is an experimental painting recreating the act of watering and caring for houseplants. I wanted to show the aftermath of treating a plant with root rot; the soil and hydrogen peroxide-water mixture seeping through the drainage holes of the pot with fallen leaves scattered around leading to the drain of the tub.

My frustration and vast attempts to save my plants, like my Pilea, inspired this piece. Lily pads were used to mimic the leaf of a pilea plant, having some cuttings fresher than others. The pieces of paper included throughout the piece contain the research I did in order to keep my plants happy and healthy like; using cinnamon on top of soil to kill pests and using hydrogen peroxide to help treat root rot (as to why it is included in this piece).
